Civilization 4... First Impressions

So Sid has come out with a new Civ game. Another installment in a great line of games. As far as I can tell with a full wasted day this game is as addive as the others.

The first thing you will notice is that it plays very similar to civ3. So if you played that one your set to go. The next is the graphics, a full 3d environment a 1st for civ games. This goes right down to watching horses move around, and fish swim in the ocean. Nothing special but a nice touch.

Once you get around to founding your great civ you will notice that this game plays faster than civ3. I realy think the designers listened to the gamers on this one. Most of the things you hated in Civ3 are gone. Civ3 played out very slow, this new one just flows. At this point you can be critical that nothing major has changed, this seemed to annoy Jimmy who has zero relationship to Tenzwarth. But I'm not actually sure this annoyed him? So is this just civ3 updated?(Note: Tenzwarth oops I mean Jimmy has yet to play civ4, but made the point why should you pay full price for basically an updated civ3 if it is so similar). But no need to get into that.(Note: Never bother to mention anyone with you email address)

Some highlights are closed boarders. All civ3 gamers can remember other civs just taking a walk through you territory, it was so annoying. No more! They either have to ask you to open your boarders (which they do alot) or got war. Anouther is experience for troops. So if you have a kick ass troop he gains upgrades. These upgrades are very diverse. I'm actually happy with the combat system in civ4. Seems that you may need to actually use tactics in this one, instead of just massing troops.

Tech just seems to fly by. Every 10 turns or less a new tech. It's crazy. Now this was on the easier settings. And the settings seem to be easier than civ3. In my second game on warlord I had ICBM in the 1800's. France didn't like that at all. Oh and for all you nuke fanboys, seems like other civs don't care that much when you try and nuke a civ off the map.

And the best thing, old military units have no chance against modern units. No more wtf spearman killing a tank. Now they can damage you. When my Navy Seals(U.S. special Unit) invaded the Aztec nation I was attack with lots of medieval units. At most I can say is one of my soldiers took 1/4 health damage after at 4 man assault. But you may still scratch you head when I knight damages your gunship

Also attacking towns is much harder. I think they did this to make artillery actually useful. You now need to lay siege to a town before attacking.

There are alot of other small changes. I can wait to play it multiplayer, since they claim the engine was designed 1st for multi. Basically what i'm saying is that civ4 is a good game. If your new to the series you in trouble, just call work and say your sick for a couple days. Old sim fans will be very comfortable with this game. Nothing major new, they put in religion, but seems rather unimportant. Unless you want to pull a crusade an convert all the heathens to Buddism. All together this a great game, enjoy.

Ever notice this. Your at work and nothing is going on, then suddenly something happens, then anouther and anouther and AHHHHH. Like Percy said "What the Hell!" Or problems seem to pick a day of the week. I work security and there is always a drunken bum day and a everything is broken day. Yesturday was a drunken bum day, today a everything broken day. So now I have to look forward to a boring nothing Friday!

Maybe Titanic(movie) was right!

Even though I have never watched the Titanic movie. And i'm not lying, I do it out of spite. I realy don't care if it's great, i'm not watching it. Anyways Tenzwarth always comments on the odd sound some poor sap makes as he falls and smacks the propeller blade. I think I heard that noise today with much less intensity. Violent drunk to a shot at anouther guard we tackled him and well "thunk" as his head hit the tile floor. Don't worry he was alright, just a loud noise. Oh and by the way there is no point to this blog. Just a story.

Well I havn't blogged in a while. Also I'm being super lazy, so I guess I should do something a bit productive, ie. this blog. So I have moved to Calgary. Right now I'm squatting at Teznwarths place. I'm also looking for a job. So if anyone reads this and likes Tilley send me a job offer. Something that requires little work and lots of pay is optimal. Anyways back to the rat race!

Well I'm not dead, still alive! So saw something really funny at work. I guess some under 19's gave money to a bum to buy them beer. Well the bum who is a regular at my store did buy beer. But he kept it for himself LOL. It's really hard not to laugh when a kid comes into your beer store saying that the bum took his money at coffee time. For? Never for beer. Funny stuff anyways. Oh and Fuck the Ontario Liberal government right to hell. 8% tax on food under $4.00. Dirty buggers now want to tax my coffees, Bullocks!

New System!

So Tilley now has a new computer system at work. It's a pain in the ass! Just ask Bacon he will agree (btw Bacon works with me on Fridays). The whole point of this "new" system was that it has depth. Which it does have. Depth and rigid as hell. I just want to change some things I find annoying... nope sorry! DAM! Like why does it need to print a receipt after every freaken thing you do. I open the cash it print a statment saying 0.00cash! I know I just wanted to count the till you moron. I guess I'm now up in the Danger rage zone. In the good new my trip to Calgary to visit Tenzwarth was just perfect. What a great city. Starcraft with Tenz and Splash are going good (oh Splash when your human use a worker to repair your bunkers please!) Wow jsut noticed Chompy_rex has logged on sweetness. Just need Millhop to do the same. And Miew-mieu good work! (there all biz authors mentioned :)

And in less than 48 hours I will be hanging will Tenz and partying like 2099. Why 2099 because 1999 was freaken lame! Even though had a good theme song.

Stuff!

So i spent a better part of a work shift programming in Qbasic. Well by programming I mean driving a remote control car around and telling my computer wize co-worker what ideas to add. It seemed to work out. By the end of our shift we had a rather cool bar game. Also Aha's take on me might drive you insane. If I post the game you will understand.

Oh all this programming made me think. Do internet companies have IT departements. Like if the company is made up of programmers do they still create IT or do the programmers just fix things on the fly???

Old Nes Games!

So today I was playing the old nintendo game Final Fantasy. Yes the first final fantasy! What surprises me is that a game that old should hold no value with today wonderful graphics and sound. To my amusement this is sooo wrong. This game rocks! So to all the game developers out there work on design and substance not pretty pictures and sounds. Because that crap grows old real quick... like most of the summer movie blockbusters. Yes they looked real good, but were filled with crap. So strive to make a game that will last more than a couple months. Much like bizwarcho.com reach for the stars.

All Candidates Meeting

Tonite I attended an all candidates meeting for my regional election. For weeks now sighs have sprung up all over my fair town with someones name and what they are running for. Well execpt one guy who has his name and a check mark? But a stupid sign does not insire me to vote. So off to the candidates meeting. 5 minutes per person, over 16 people! But i'm glad at least now I can make a somewhat informed decision on election day. I also collected a wad of the brochures that maybe equal in read length to Tezwarths blogs. What angered me was one guy acclaimed his counciller stop. And his speach sucked! For $30(what i've heard price is to run) I would have ran against him. Just seems like a waste of democracy when someone just gets an elected seat without any hassle. Who cares that he's been in that position for over a decade or whatever. So don't be suprised if you see Tilley running in some election real soon!

Lots of Stuff!

It was such a nice day outside today. My professor was even joking about having the lecture outside. Which would have been super cool. But instead she let us go early. Which is nice, but somewhat bittersweet. It takes me like 45 minutes to commute to university. So when class goes short I feel a little ripped off.

So last nite Tilley and Tenz got together over the wonderful Internet and played starcraft. God what a fun game that is! Nothing is better than humans and aliens battling each other in epic combat. It’s even better when you crack a couple beers, or down a gin and tonic. I’ll let Tenz bitch about the Git program for IPX play.

Bizarre Campus

Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking as they wonder around my university campus. I’m all for individualism but some people take it to the extreme. In the past weeks I have seen some horrible fashion. Tilley in not some fashion guru, or even do I care about fashion, but I know the crushed velvet pants should never be worn. EVER! Also I saw a girl in 80’s style leg warmers! I thought I had been implanted in flash dance. Then there was this other young lady with fluorescent yellow shoes. This caught my attention from over 100 yards away. It was like her feet were glowing with radiation it was so bright. But maybe all these things are what the cool kids are doing.

Oh and there should be some kind of washroom graffiti code. When in the can you want amusing statements written about. Things like “for a good time contact danger”. Not a huge ad done in white out for Ultima Online. I kid you not. Some one took the time and tagged UO and it’s symbol on the back of the stall door. This really confuses me, like who still plays UO? And Everquest is so much better!

Stuff of late!

I have to mention that a couple days ago I went the A Perfect Circle concert at the Opera House in Toronto. Wow, they were freaken amazing. The Opera House is a super small venue! I was like 15 feet at most from the stage and 5 feet from the bar. Like how cool is that? The opening band was shit but A Perfect Circle was amazing. I recommend to everyone that they pick up their new CD Thirteenth Step on Sept 16th.

So went all crazy in the gym yesterday. My training buddy and myself were doing squats. So we decided to increase the weight all crazy. By the end we were doing sets with 315lbs. And we plan more for next week. Then after we killed our legs we went to the Keg steakhouse and ate like kings!

Someone has to!

Well someone on bizwarcho has to blog. So Tilley has gone to the challenge. I guess all of us are writing wonderful reviews in our brand spanking new movie section (ALL THANK Tenzwarth). Danger is very bitter about the lack of fan mail she has not recieved. I Tilley am angry by the lack of hate mail I have recieved. Come on people!

So Tilley has set foot back on campus this year...again. Everyone is so freaken young. Oh well. I'm just glad one of my profs is hot! When does that ever happen?

Overdose BBQ!

Hey just got back from a midnight BBQ. Yes it is quite late to gorge on food but I’m not complaining. Burning animals on a barbeque is a pure testosterone deal that reaffirms your manhood. Steak, sausages, fried portabella mushrooms, a shrimp ring, salad and of course beer. Life does not get batter than that. So it’s late now and I have to work tomorrow (boo). My lower back is killing me (dam dead lifts in gym, good pain though).

So while reading the paper at work (Toronto Sun) I read a great tidbit on karma. I guess some kid was fishing in Cambodia and somehow the fish managed to get into his mouth and choke the pore sap to death. Glad to see the fish are once again fighting back.

I'm also a bit creeped out at the moment. Was on Kazaa the other day and found a mp3 named "death of Tilley". I kid not! It seems like some classical work. I realy haven't taken the time to listen to it much. Why? Did you read the name, that's just Freaken creepy!

Breaking my Silence

So as everyone has figured out there was a massive blackout on the eastern seaboard. Well I was apart of this great adventure. All I have to say is without power our society is just completely useless. We think we are so smart and make fun of generations past because of their beliefs. But at least they don’t freak out when power goes out for half a day. Western society is a society of spoiled children. No one takes responsibility for anything. In the opening hours of the blackout everyone (politicians) were blaming each other for the problem. “It was Ontario!” “It was New York State” “Lightning hit a power plant!” Sorry all wrong! It was alien gnomes who take delight in the massive flaws in civilizations who think they are great. They laugh as we complain about how hot it is and not being able to rot our brains by the idiot box. I found one laughing so hard he was hyperventilating. I asked him what was so funny. He said it was funny because without light and cooling equipment our society would collapse in weeks. So I kicked him in the crotch, stupid alien gnomes.

Sars-stock and other stuff!

So this week Toronto threw a huge concert dubbed SARS stock. Headlined by the Rolling Stones. Tilley did not actually attend this concert, but was affected by it. First of all when 40,000 plus American come to a city on a Wednesday you notice. As a retail clerk I had some great questions. Actually just one question over and over again. Tilley: "That will be $1.00" American :"Is that in Canadian or American?" It was so hard not to be super sarcastic.

In the WTF section. WTF was Justin Timberlake doing at a rock concert. The biggest disappointment was when he dodged the water bottle thrown at his head. He actually took it well in a interview afterwords. But he had to know that people who came to see AC/DC and Rolling Stones might not like his pop music?

So here in Toronto the media ate the concert up. SARS stock this SARS stock that. They still are talking about it. Other media sourses around the world don't care. Why would a half a million rock concert generate any attention. Well actually on those stupid celebrity shows they keep showing Justin dodging the water bottle. Dam us Evil Ontarians! Guess no one cares that no one got SARS, west nile or Mad Cow. And good for them for serving up Canadian beef all day. So all the TO/canadian beef haters can take a spoon and eat my ass.

I've become a gym rat!

Most likely Tilley will be talking more and more about his new fitness life. Why? Because I’m spending a large amount in the gym. And because of this my conversation usually tends to be about working out. I find the gym a fascinating place to people watch. When I’m at the gym I’m all about my business. I think working out is all about what your putting into it. Since I am paying money for this privilege, I want to see reward. So Tilley works hard. My mindset just can’t handle the people who spend their time talking to each other. Go to Tim Horton’s if you want to talk. Anouther thing that bother me is gym fashion. I’m usually in shorts and some old T-shirt. I swear some people dress like they are going to a club. Today I saw a guy in a club type muscle shirt, white Adidas and matching bandana. What the hell? Just to annoy me more he talked the whole time right behind me. So annoying since my batteries in my cd player died. Oh and finally my universal pet peeve… cell phones. My god can’t people get by not being in contact with others for an hour? Otherwise I’m loving the gym, finally getting in shape. Or it might just be the hard body babes wandering around.

T3

So I went and watched Terminator 3. Out of all the blockbuster movies I have seen I liked this one the best. Forget all the reviews you have read. This movie is pure Arnold. Just action, violence, guns and a super uber hot TX chick. I recommend this movie. Now I don't think it is as good as T2. But it still has it's momments.

Oh also I saw 28 days later. Also a good movie. It goes in the "mind fuck" section. Not what I expected at all. It was better. I was expected a horror movie. What I got was something that actually made me think. And that is rare in movie today.

Can't wait until the the best movie of the summer... Jason vs. Freddy. That's just everything I wanted when I was a kid. And yes I was a messed up kid who loved horror movies.

The Dentist!

So Tilley went to the dentist the other day. I swear the dentist office is a bizarre mix of the future and the past. Where can you get a 360 degree X-ray of your head. Then about 10 minutes later have some nice lady take a small metal object a jab into you gums. The worst part is that we have to pay for this so called adventure. A creep sci-fi, medieval adventure!

My only complaint was the it was a little long. I get a bit angry when my ass falls asleep. Other than that I was impressed by this movie. I'd say an 8.5 on a scale of 11.

I received a funny business card the other day. I doubt that the person who gave it to me wanted it to be that way though. It was a normal card for a company. The funny part about it was the less than simplistic email address. It was the persons name and his company @hotmail.com. Example: lemurtilleybizwarchostellindustries@hotmail.com. It took up the whole bottom of the card. If you’re a business you want a fairly easy email address. This poor guy must never get any emails!

All I have to say is what the hell? I was reading today and staind just cancelled his concert in Toronto over SARS concerns. What a freaken wimp! I can understand someone like Elton John, but now hard rockers are afraid. I can’t believe haw the media can manipulate the Americans. I would love to see some statistics on a bunch of American cities. I bet the odds of getting SARS in Toronto are close to getting shot in Detroit!

Oh my next issue is that an Avril Lavigne has inspired a movie. Yes sk8er boi is becoming a movie according to some insider. The plot is “two teenagers from different backgrounds who find themselves in love but struggle because of their social backgrounds.” (Toronto Star) So basically they read Tilley’s Making a Hit Movie article. Making a Hit Movie

Too much Hype!

So I went and saw Matrix reloaded the other day. Cool movie! The only question was I that impressed. I guess that’s the problem with these big budget movies. They advertise the hell out of them. The actors are on TV all the time and show are showing how great all this is. Then once you go see it your not impressed at all. I was expected to be blown away. Was I? Hell no! Actually the thing that interested me was the plot. Which was complicated! Most likely I will have to watch it again to really get the scope of the plot. Now that I think of it I relay don’t remember anyone on TV ever mentioning the plot, it was always the crazy never seen before special effects. Bah I say Bah! Same crap Neo can dodge bullets! If he can do that some jerk trying to punch him is like child play.

New Ride!

So Tilley got himself a new car. The amazing part is that this car is not a junker like my previous ones. 1999 Sunfire, silver, standard, with a sunroof. So I have done a bit of a crash course in standard driving. God it's fun. But I still suck on those hills. So if you see a silver sunfire in front of you on a hill give some room.

Getting in Shape!

This is for all those people out there who are attempting to get into shape for summer. What a pain! And boy do I feel it. The working out is the easy part. The hard part is on the nutrition side. My vice is beer, I like to drink lots and lots of it. Which is never good for the waist line. But I have cut down a lot. The problem is ice water will never be as good as an ice cold beer :)

House of 1000 Corpses

Wow what a bad movie. I would have rather forgotten that I had ever seen it, but since I can't here is my review. When I go to the movie's I like when the movie has a plot. This one did not. Personally I think Rob Zombie (writer/director)needs a bit of help. This movie is just pointless blood and gore. Everyone likes blood and gore in a horror movie, but this went beyong what was needed. Actually what was needed is my freaken money back! The unfortunate part is that this could have been a cool movie. The way it was filmed was cool... the rest well sucked!

Casino's

So just spend most of the afternoon at the casino. The thing you have to see is that I don't realy gamble. Maybe I'll put $20 in a slot machine and that is it. My mom on the other hand likes to gamble. So she gambles and I do what I like doing... drinking beer. Well my mom was winning today! The bartender was kindof giving me the eye the last time I ordered a beer. Just weird! No one cares when anyone drops hundreds of dollars in a slot machine. But when you order your 6th beer people get all confused.

Civilization 3

Hey everyone. If anyone out there has ever played Civ 3 you know that it is as addictive as crack. Every so often I install Civ on my computer and spend the next serveral days playing. It is also dangerous to have CNN on TV in the background. I soon realize I am no General Tommy Franks and my military moves are just a little suspect. Who realy defends all there towns... and whats a reserve. And in the end my civ just spends its time building nuclear wepons. Which then turns into anouther civ being givin a quick ticket back to the stone age... Boom. Realy someone should reprogram the AI so America trys to punish anyone who tries to build any weapons of mass destruction:)
